Responsibilities

  • Responding to any emergency or potential emergency.

  • Security diligence, including maintaining control of personal key cards, preventing unauthorized entry to the facility by non-Berry employees, and proper maintenance / security of Berry information and equipment within your direct responsibility.

  • Constant vigilance and participation in Food Safety practices.

  • Prevent nonconforming product from being shipped to customers.

  • Identify and record problems relating to product, process and quality system.

  • Initiate action to prevent occurrences of any non-conformity of product or quality systems.

  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.

  • Suggest actions for continual improvement to products, processes, or systems and verify the implementation of solutions.

  • Observe all Safety precautions, Food Safety requirements and Plant rules to prevent injury to self or others and to prevent loss of material or damage to equipment.

  • Follow and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Maintain good housekeeping and 5S.

  • Complete SQF cleaning on assigned presses bi-weekly

  • Installs new/repaired molds in injection molding presses. Rotating with other technicians as primary role

  • Perform daily cleaning on lines required

  • Completes accurate and timely reports regarding maintenance on molds.

  • Completes daily log of activities.

  • Analyzes machine output problems by troubleshooting and comparing problems within spec. parts.

  • Analyzes defective parts to determine reasons for dimensional variations such as faulty machining, assembly procedures, set-up, tools, or fixtures.

  • Recommends corrective action procedures to design, methods, process, or production engineering departments.

  • Inspects machining or assembly fixtures, tools, gauges, and suggests replacements or use of new equipment.

  • Able to manage and prioritize work load with minimal to no supervision.

  • Perform daily housekeeping and 5S. This includes daily cleaning, cleaning up after yourself, and placing items back into their home when complete. Responsible for cleaning oil, water, and material from the machines, especially during slow periods between scheduled responsibilities.

  • Responsible for pulling tips either for color streaks or to gain cavitation. This includes performing them by procedure and meeting the time requirement of 2 hours.

  • If required, assist with color changes. This includes performing the change by procedure and meeting the time requirement of 45 minutes.

  • In slow periods in between scheduled responsibilities, part capture is a primary job role. This includes stopping parts from hitting the floor and cleaning them up. Shutting down a machine to improve part capture must be approved by the supervisor.

  • Pick up purge during the shift as needed and place in proper location

  • Must perform Crane inspections daily as needed

  • Emptying of cooling unit condensation daily as required.

Qualifications

  • Capable of physical mobility including sitting, bending, twisting, standing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Capable of maintaining an attendance record within company guidelines and working required overtime.

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.

  • Read, write and speak English.

  • Past experience / proven ability within the specified disciplines.

  • Negative drug screen test results.

  • Capable of basic math computation such as subtraction, multiplication, addition, and division.

  • Possess personal computer skills including Excel, database and word processing.

  • Must have previous mold set up experience.

  • Must possess strong processing skills required for high cavitation molds and high-speed injection molding machinery and equipment.

  • Must be a Root Cause problem solver.

  • Analytical in approach to problem solving as well as solutions.

  • Materials knowledge desirable.

  • Strives to meet and better department targets with a clear emphasis on EFF, MEEF, CAVITATION and SCRAP.

  • SPC or Product Monitoring knowledge desirable.

  • Understands mold drawings / prints and can clearly describe parts and mechanisms.

  • Fully understands and is efficient in all job roles and procedures as defined in the mold set up job descriptions.

  • Must be a team player who demonstrates a can-do attitude.

  • Has a good understanding of what drives each department and the part they play in reaching set goals or targets.

  • Will be expected to attend meetings as well as present documented information to molding group as a way of problem solving or prevention.
