Responsibilities
Maintenance Technician 1
Repairs machinery or mechanical equipment. Work involves most of the following: examining machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble; read technical manuals and drawings to understand equipment and controls; dismantling or partly dismantling machines and performing repairs that involve the use of hand and power tools, measuring tools, such as micrometers, measuring tapes, lasers, and other precision-measuring devices; replacing broken or defective parts with items obtained from stock; reassembling machines; cleaning and lubricating equipment or machinery following Preventative Maintenance procedures; and making all necessary adjustments for operation. In addition to working with hand tools and power tools, maintenance technicians commonly use milling machines, sanders, buffers, grinders, and drill presses.
Reports directly to the Maintenance Team Coordinator.
Will have at least 18 months completed as a Process Technician 1, or equivalent experience (Internal Candidates)
Has extensive experience with all Job Duties and has fully completed all Technical Training requirements for the role of Process Technician 1, as required.
Always puts Safety #1. Mentors all others and leads by example.
Will be competent in using the LOTO system
Will be competent in using the GDC safety reporting system
Responsible for achieving Safety and Productivity Goals (EEF & MEEF)
Will be able to complete assigned PM task in safe and timely manner.
Will be able to complete equipment repairs in safe and timely manner.
Will participate in Root Cause Corrective action exercises
Responsible for clearly understanding all Quality System standards
Will be competent in the use of food grade and nonfood grade greases and other supplies
Will be competent in work completion cleaning and sanitation
Has a full understanding of all Process Data Sheets for major pieces of equipment
Once PM task are completed will be competent in verifying any setups required post work are complete and accurate via the engineering approved setup sheets
Fully qualified to operate forklift and man lifts
Performs pre-use safety checks
Use all PPE required to use these devices
Will be required to have completed all required training for entry level position prior to award of Position
Must continue to develop a deeper understanding of the mechanical preventative maintenance and machine repair of components of the Compression Molding / Finishing Process up to, and including, all 300 Level and some 400 level technical knowledge, for all types of equipment & machines used
Assists in developing and promoting the plant’s Technical Training Program for preventative maintenance & repair of equipment
Assists in mentoring the Process Technician employees on the proper proceduresfor preventative maintenance, mechanical repairs, and routine adjustments of equipment.
Assists in validation of mechanical repairs completed by the Process Technicians at all Levels, as required
Contributes to the Housekeeping of the Maintenance Shop and Facility, as well as, identifying the need for supplies and maintenance tools.
Will follow GMP rules in cleanliness and sanitation of working equipment, tools and storage.
Will be required to document accurately and completely all machine repairs using the Downtime Record System.
Will have complete understanding of the JDE PM system
Will be able to issue work orders
Will be able to scan out needed parts and correct inventory discrepancies when found
Will be able to accurately use spare parts catalogs for proper part lookup
Active Team Member completing GDC entries, and participating in Safety Risk Assessments
Maintain GMP & 5S compliance in work areas, including maintaining the integrity of the 5S markings & signage
Complete special projects as required.
Willing to attend training sessions, workshops, & seminars relating to the job
May be required to be “On Call” on days off or after hours
Supports Process Group as required
Performs all other duties as required
Qualifications
Associate's Degree
18 months as a Process Technician I or equivalent experience (internal candidates)
Injection Molding tooling experience is highly desired
Honest, dependable, and motivated
Positive attitude and the ability to work productively with others
Good math skills and mechanical ability, problem solving and analytical skills
Must have good communication skills, written and verbal
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to work around grease, oils, and solvents without adverse reactions
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop and squat throughout the entire shift
Must have good manual dexterity
Must be able to differentiate color
