Purpose : To design, communicate and perform operational improvement activities for printing. Establish procedures that will solidify sound operational principles and meet the requirements of local regulatory agencies. Work effectively with all departments and teams. Provide the leadership & initiatives to solve problems and improve the efficiencies of the printing plant.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates exceptional personal safety habits and maintains all safety regulations established by the company.

  • Exhibits exemplary personal work habits to ensure work is performed on time with diligence and focus on key strategic and tactical initiatives. Responds with the appropriate level of urgency as situations warrant.

  • Leads/Champions-specific World Class Operations Initiatives, including Quality and Efficiency Programs such as Lean Manufacturing, ISO, 5S, and Six Sigma.

  • Works closely with the process engineering manager to define product requirements and translate them into controllable process parameters through trial execution.

  • Recommends, develops, and helps implement critical process equipment systems. Also develops other systems that improve reliability, reduce costs, and maintain "world-class" operational controls.

  • Ensures quality and service standards are met and exceeded through the establishment of standards, statistical methods, good communication, follow-up, and proper training.

  • Defines and reports opportunities for process reliability improvement.

  • Understands and develops systems to meet ISO and customer-developed quality standards.

  • Cooperatively works with the process engineering manager, operations manager, supervision, and operators to accomplish plant and company goals.

  • Understands the manufacturing process and operational principles of production in order to develop new products and optimize existing products, including graphics development and design principles.

  • Maintains a high level of safety, ensuring equipment and facilities are in proper condition.

  • Enforces company policy and safety regulations within the team.

  • Performs any other task necessary to ensure the safe, effective, and legal operation of the plant.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • A 4-year BS/BA degree is required, preferably in the engineering or chemistry discipline.

  • Minimum 5+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably in flexographic printing. Experience in lean manufacturing, 5S, ISO, and Six Sigma is a plus.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, process, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write technical reports and routine correspondence.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups.

  • Ability to calculate figures associated with the process department.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • It requires prolonged sitting and frequent bending, stooping, and stretching; manual dexterity; the ability to distinguish letters; and occasional lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds.

  • Knowledge of and skills in the use of office machines (computers and copiers) and business procedures. Strong computer aptitude and experience.

  • Intimate knowledge of Microsoft Office required. Database development experience is a plus.

  • Must understand the basic fundamentals of plastic product machinery and the process behind the mechanics.

  • Job functions will be performed in and around production, warehouse, and office areas.

  • Job functions will include occasional contact with customers.

  • This position will interface with the plant workforce and management team, as well as corporate personnel. External contacts include vendors and customers.
